At De Hood Boxing Centre & Community Hub, we pride ourselves on our community activity, where alongside our health & fitness facilities we offer benefits advice, healthy eating advice and an active recovery group for people who are recovering from drugs & alcohol.
We use participation in health, fitness and exercise as tools to engage children and young people in positive activity to prevent the risk of them becoming involved in crime, drugs, antisocial behaviour or becoming ‘groomed’ by gangs operating the street-based drugs trade and using young people as ‘couriers’ frequently enforced by violence involving knives and guns.
We have been extremely successful in winning the support of local agencies and organisations in this mission including, The South Yorkshire Police & Crime Commissioner, The South Yorkshire Community Foundation, Sheffield City Council, The National Lottery Community Foundation, The Lady Neil Trust, The Westfield Health Foundation, The Sheffield City Trust, along with our local South Yorkshire Police neighbourhood Policing team and our local Sheffield City Councillors for the Manor Castle Ward, Cllr Ann Murphy, Cllr Sioned Mair-Richards, Cllr Terry Fox (Leader of Sheffield City Council) who are backing our efforts to change lives and communities for the better.
